Pharmacists Alliance accepts award nominations for the following Annual
Awards. Awards will be presented during the
Annual Meeting of the Alliance on Friday, September 10, 2010,
in Indianapolis during the Awards Banquet.

Bowl of Hygeia
The Wyeth
Ayerst “Bowl of Hygeia” Award is presented yearly for outstanding
community service. The following criteria should be noted when
submitting a nominee for consideration. The recipient:
-
Must be a
pharmacist, licensed within the jurisdiction in which the Award is
made.
-
Must be living.
Awards are not presented posthumously.
-
Has not previously
received the Award.
-
Is not currently
serving nor has he/she served within the immediate past two years on
its awards committee or as an officer of the association in other than
an ex-officio capacity.
-
Has compiled an
outstanding record of community service, which, apart from his/her
specific identification as a pharmacist, reflects well on the
profession.

Distinguished Young
Pharmacist Award
Each year
Pharmacists Mutual Companies awards the Distinguished Young Pharmacist
Award. This award was designed to encourage young pharmacists to become
involved in association activities and civic projects. This award
recognizes pharmacists in each state for individual excellence and
outstanding contribution to their pharmacy association and community.
The criteria for this award is as follows:

Entry degree in
Pharmacy received less than 9 years.
-
Licensed to
practice in state in which selected.
-
Current membership
in the state pharmacy association.
-
Practice retail,
institutional, or consulting pharmacy in the year selected.
-
Participation in
national pharmacy associations, professional programs, state
association activities, and/or community service.

Innovative Pharmacy
Practice Award
The Élan
“Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award” was introduced in 1993 as a way to
honor innovative and pro-active approaches to enhanced patient care. The
award consists of a beautiful framed artwork to be displayed in the
pharmacy depicting patient care techniques. The criteria for this award
is:

The recipient has
demonstrated Innovative Pharmacy Practice resulting in improved
patient care.
“Outstanding Student
of the Year” Award
This
award was instituted in 1992 to honor a student of pharmacy who has been
actively involved in association activities and helped to promote the
advancement of pharmacy. The student must:
-
Be a current
student member of the IPA and be involved in association activities to
promote the advancement of the profession of pharmacy.
-
Be enrolled in a
pharmacy program at Butler College of Pharmacy or Purdue School of
Pharmacy.

Indiana Academy of
Community Pharmacists (IACP)
“Joseph E. McSoley Pharmacist of the Year” Award
This
award was created in 1986 to recognize a veteran pharmacist who
exemplifies the qualities of the pharmacist honored as the namesake of
the award, Joseph E. McSoley. Joe gave many years of faithful and caring
service to the members of the IPA. The recipient of this award should
have the following qualifications:

Has demonstrated
long-term commitment and service to the profession of pharmacy.
-
Has demonstrated
long-term commitment and service to state pharmacy organizations.
-
Has been involved
in community and civic affairs.
-
Is a member of the
Alliance in the year nominated.
-
Licensed to
practice in Indiana.
-
Has practiced as a
pharmacist for ten (10) years or more.
-
Not currently
serving as one of the executive officers of the Alliance.
-
Not a previous
recipient of the award.

Indiana Society of
Health-System Pharmacists (ISHP)
“Glen Sperandio Hospital Pharmacist of the Year” Award
This
award is the highest honor that ISHP gives to a practicing pharmacist,
and any practicing hospital pharmacist the state is eligible. The award
recognizes superior achievement and services of a deserving individual
and is an honor to the recipient as well as to his or her co-workers and
institution. Nominations should contain the nominee’s name, current
position, and mailing address, reasons why the individual is deserving
of recognition, and a brief listing of the person’s professional
activities and achievements. Nominations should not be longer than two
pages and should be signed by the person submitting them. Nominees
should be persons who exemplify professional pharmacy service and have
demonstrated the following:

Outstanding
service in Pharmacy practice.
-
Service in
professional organizations.
-
Outstanding
service to the community.
-
Services/interaction with other health care workers.

Indiana Academy
of Pharmacy Technicians (IAPT)
“Pharmacy Technician of the Year” Award
The nominee should be a person who has demonstrated professional
competency and who is actively working to help establish the role of the
technician in pharmacy services. Factors to be considered:
-
Service to his/her
institution and or area of patient service.
-
Ability to
communicate, both oral and written, and ability to interact with other
professionals in the health-care field.
-
Involvement in
councils and technician academy membership.
-
Significant
contributions to the local community.
-
Volunteer
participation in professional and community activities.
