Prescription Network of
Indiana (PNI) History
PNI is a for-profit, wholly owned subsidiary of the Alliance. PNI Board
members are appointed by the Alliance board of directors. The PNI was
originally two for-profit corporations, both organized in the mid-80s.
One was the original PNI, organized as a network of pharmacies
throughout the state, with the intention of bidding on providing
prescription drug benefits to third party payers. Indiana Pharmacy
Services was the other corporation, organized as a PACE Alliance buying
group. In 1994, the IPA, as the sole shareholder of both corporations,
merged them into a single corporation, the Prescription Network of
Indiana. Since that time, PNI has entered an agreement with RxAmerica to
serve as the preferred network for RxAmerica business in the state.
